Editor-in-Chief @ The Eckleburg Project

I joined the undergraduate literary journal TEP as a staff writer early in my undergraduate career, and was appointed Head Staff Writer by the end of my first year in the organization. Soon after, I was asked to take over as Editor-in-Chief as the former officer team disintegrated.

I inherited a struggling organization with a small and poorly organized roster. I searched for months to find officers willing to cover the org's administrative tasks — for regulatory reasons, I wasn't allowed to do everything myself. I quickly learned the value of good leaders through an object lesson in scarcity.

But as I continued recruiting new members, I met Jules Megason and Madeline Kiser, who were lifesavers in bringing the literary journal back to life. As Editor-in-Chief, I kept the team focused and organized in our administrative tasks, dealing with the debt graciously bequeathed to us from the previous officers, rebuilding trust with our institutional oversight, and facilitating the relationship between the literary journal and the student body. Meanwhile, Jules and Madeline — as Head of Marketing and Managing Editor — helped to expand and organize our membership. With their strategic efforts, it wasn't long before our teams were thriving again, full of members excited to contribute to our campus's artistic community. Membership grew by over 150% over the course of two semesters!

Today, the organization is flourishing under Madeline's guidance as Editor-in-Chief. I couldn't be prouder of the mission I helped to sustain and the artists and leaders I helped to gather.
